Sean Surerus is the President of Surerus Pipeline Inc. and Chariman of Surerus Murphy Joint Venture, leading the way in the pipeline construction industry. With a strong academic background, including a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Carleton University, his expertise is complemented by a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Royal Roads University.

Since joining Surerus in 2001 as a Project Coordinator, Sean’s visionary leadership has driven the company’s transformation from a regional contractor to one of Canada’s largest pipeline construction companies. Under his guidance, Surerus has achieved remarkable growth and is recognized for its exceptional performance and reliability. His commitment and community development is evident through his active involvement in numerous organizations. He has held positions as a former member of the BC Small Business Roundtable, a former Director of the Northern Society of Oilfield Service Firms, and a former Director of the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada. Additionally, he serves as the Fundraising Director of the Northern BC Winter Games, showcasing his passion for sports and community engagement.

He places great importance on fostering positive relationships with Indigenous communities, as demonstrated by his leadership of Surerus’ Indigenous Engagement program. By promoting inclusivity and collaboration, he ensures that Indigenous perspectives are respected and integrated, contributing to the company’s sustainable growth and success.

Beyond his professional achievements, Sean cherishes his role as a family man. Married with two children, he understands the value of work-life balance and leads by example. Based in Calgary, he actively supports various initiatives within the vibrant community, driving positive change.

Joe
MacNeil

General Manager

Joe MacNeil, the General Manager of Surerus, is an accomplished operations and business development leader with a diverse background in the energy sector. Holding credentials in Leadership Development from Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Cape Breton University, and being a Master Electrician, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role at Surerus.

Throughout his career, he has directed a wide range of industrial construction, maintenance, and turnaround projects, demonstrating his expertise in project management and operations management. Also co-funding a successful industrial service contracting company, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.

At Surerus, Joe plays a vital role in leading operations, managing client relationships, and overseeing strategic planning and execution. He is known for his ability to drive revenue growth, improve operational efficiencies, and optimize business operations through innovative initiatives. With a strong reputation for business development and client relationship management, he builds trust and maintains lasting relationships with stakeholders while consistently securing new project contracts. In addition to his professional achievements, Joe is committed to community service and engagement. Serving as the Chair of Keyano College Board of Governors and has been a long-term member of the Northern Lights Health Foundation Board of Directors, where he has contributed to the betterment of the community through his leadership.

Married with four adult children and after 32 years in Fort McMurray, Joe is now based in Fort St. John where he continues to make a positive impact professionally and within the community.
